Question & Answer

A year ago I had the opportunity to disciple a young man name Jun (not real name). He asked me this question, “Why I am not motivated to share the gospel?”

Here are some answers to that question:

  • Fear and Shyness. These two go together in the area of sharing Christ to others. Fear of rejection and shyness to tell others about what Jesus Christ has done for us are big challenges.
  • Trust. Trusting that God can save people by using us to share the gospel with classmates, friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbors. This is an issue of conviction.
  • Compassion. Recognizing that people are going to hell if they do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and that the only way they will believe is by hearing the gospel. The only way they will hear is if we share Christ.
  • Prayer. Praying for opportunities to share the gospel. Praying for people to be ready to receive the gospel. This is an issue of perspective.
  • Living in Sin. This one is the most dangerous and destructive reasons because God will deal with the sin in our lives. Sin makes a Christian an ineffective witness of Christ.
  • Lack of know how. Never been taught how to share the gospel. Do not know how, when or where to start a conversation. Maybe you have the same question as Jun. “Why I am not motivated to share the gospel?” Maybe you and your church need motivation to advance the gospel and reach out in your community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.Word of Life Philippines Local Church Ministries has developed a simple, clear, strategic way to share Christ and reach out in your community. This evangelistic event is called STORM which stands Sending Teens Out to Reach the Masses. This event has changed the lives of many teens, who through participating in STORM have reached out the lost, and become motivated and confident in sharing Christ with others.

This can happen with you, your teens and your church too.
